Job Overview Hexatronic Rochester Cable end-markets are going through a period of exponential change and rapid growth. To support this, we are seeking a Process Engineer based at our facility in Culpeper, Virginia to sustain and improve our manufacturing processes plus manage machine upgrades and installations. These processes may include steel wire drawing, extrusion, cable assembly and cable armoring.
Key Responsibilities
Actively participating in safety programs and implementing solutions to resolve or prevent safety issues
Engineering support of the steel wire drawing process by creating and improving drawing profiles to meet product needs and supporting manufacturing in nonconformance root cause and corrective actions
Leading process development projects in the design, build, conditioning, and installation of manufacturing equipment
Evaluating new product designs as well as changes to existing products to ensure they can be produced to meet specifications safely and efficiently and provide cost estimates for process changes when current capabilities are lacking
Estimating tooling and process costs and managing project budgets
Utilizing product nonconformance and scrap data to drive process improvements through enhanced procedures, error-proofing, and the integration of new technology
Creating and updating work instructions and visual standards in addition to working closely with production supervisors/operators to solicit support and team engagement
Working with Global Engineering teams in the sharing of best practices
Supporting Lean Manufacturing and Visual Management initiatives
Requirements
This position is subject to the requirements of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR), as such, applicants must be a U.S. person defined as a citizen, national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee
Mechanical, electrical, chemical, or industrial engineering degree with 2+ years of experience as a Process Engineer. Manufacturing industry experience is highly preferred
Experience with wire and cable manufacturing is desired
Competency with computer drawing software (CAD)
PLC knowledge/experience is desired
Must be able to work in a hands-on environment, interacting closely with manufacturing operators and supervision as well as the maintenance crews
Sound project management skills
Proficient in MS Office Software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools; a Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is valuable
Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic global environment with multiple changing priorities
Track record of systematically identifying and creating strategies/business case/to deliver total cost of ownership savings
Strong passion towards identifying near-term and long-term opportunities
Ability to understand problem statements and communicate solutions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills and a strong ability to build rapport with stakeholders
Passion for both business and technology coupled with the desire to learn and constantly improve

Must wear and use protective and safety equipment as required
Be dependable and have strong work ethics
