Job Description
The Radiology Clinical Coordinator facilitates patient flow, coordinates procedures and ensures collaboration with the health care team both within and outside of Radiology with a focus on safety, quality and service while improving efficiency and minimizing downtime. Exceptional customer service and communication skills required. Oversees and/or leads assigned technologist work teams.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Current certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT), the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) OR the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current Certification by ARRT or NMTCB or ARDMS CPR

Experience REQUIRED:
Previous radiology modality and/or invasive procedure work experience
Minimum of 3 years lead/coordinator experience required.

Experience PREFERRED
Minimum of 1 year of previous supervisory or management experience.
7-10 years of previous radiology modality work experience with 3 years in a supervisory or lead/coordinator role.
Previous work experience in an academic medical center environment.

Education/training REQUIRED:
Graduation from a JRCNMT Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology that is recognized by the ARRT, NMTCB or ARDMS

Education/training PREFERRED:
Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology or closely related field from an accredited program

Independent action(s) required:
Coordinates workflow of assigned teams. Follows documented written and CPOE orders.
Evaluates orders, prioritizes and plans work and effectively assigns resources to ensure optimal workflow in accordance with department protocols for multiple radiology modalities
Resolves service delivery issues as needed.
Removes barriers.
Communicates updates to referring providers.

Communicates any after-hours issues or concerns to the appropriate leadership within the radiology
Scheduling urgent and emergent studies as requested and required per the referring MD and assisting the modalities with shifting patient load to accommodate.
Scheduling new, unusual, research, high-risk, and monitored studies to assure accuracy of scheduling, and to assure required personnel and supplies are available for the study.

Supervisory responsibilities:
Oversees and coordinates the work of assigned teams; functions as team lead.
Coordinates workflow of assigned teams while assisting and prioritizing tasks to ensure optimal workflow in accordance with department protocols for multiple imaging modalities.
Coordinate the overall workflow of the department to ensure quality patient care, efficient and timely processes and customer satisfaction.
Assist Imaging managers and modality supervisors by overseeing/leading assigned technologist work teams.
Works within the department and with the hospital at large to provide direction and support as evidenced by effective operations.
Works with Managers/Director/Associate Director and staff in diffusing and resolving customer issues related to staff performance, scheduling conflicts, equipment downtime and behavioral issues as evidenced by effective resolution.

Additional position requirements:
Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific manager or supervisor. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet staffing needs of the health system. On-call, weekend and other after-hours coverage may be required based on workload demand and staffing needs of the health system. This position is considered an "Essential Employee" who may be required to report to work in accordance with the VCUHS Policy. Must have immediate access to a home phone or cell phone.
