Overview

SUMMARY:

The Systems Administrator shall be responsible for resolving incidents escalated to or originating at the Systems Administration level.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for administration of the Microsoft computing environment that includes, but is not limited to:

    Microsoft domain administration
  • Active Directory
  • Domain controllers
  • Domain Names Services (DNS)
  • Troubleshooting minor network connectivity issues such as network interface cards (NIC), cabling, and TCP/IP configuration issues.
  • Administering basic messaging systems (e-mail).
  • Troubleshooting and resolving system issues using configuration analysis and subsystem (hard drive, memory, monitors, and power supplies) repair/replacement procedures.
  • Responding to trouble tickets from the automated Service Desk trouble ticketing system.
  • Performing hardware and software system support (applying patches and upgrades, implementing service packs and hotfixes, etc.) to ensure system availability, reliability, and serviceability.
  • Initiating backup and recovery functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must maintain a current Microsoft Certification: Enterprise Administration Expert.
  • Must maintain a current Microsoft Certification: Azure Administrator Associate.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience working in the Microsoft computing environment with demonstrated expertise and knowledge of the following:
  • Microsoft domain administration
  • Active Directory
  • Domain controllers
  • Domain Name Services (DNS)
  • Group Policy Objects (GPO)
  • Microsoft SQL database administration
  • Server certificate management
  • VMware vCenter and ESXi host administration
  • Hyper-V and Nutanix administration

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

High level of familiarity with Microsoft domain administration, Active Directory, domain controllers, DNS, etc.

Familiar with PC and server hardware and technologies.

Knowledgeable of basic network technologies, such as network interface cards (NIC), TCP/IP, cabling, etc.

Familiar with basic messaging system administration (i.e., e-mail).

Able to resolve system issues using configuration analysis and subsystem repair or replacement procedures.

This job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens. Extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system is required.
