The Opportunity

  • To care for laboratory animals, their environment, and maintain records of their productivity and growth. To learn how and to maintain animals in inventory, to prepare animals for shipment, and to medicate or inject animals.

How you will contribute to make a difference

  • Provide food, water, and clean housing to animals according to a rigid schedule
  • Maintain detailed records of animal production and inventory in precisely weighed and aged groups
  • Inject or medicate animals as instructed
  • Prepare for shipment
  • Work within changing shift times and rotating overtime schedule
  • Review integrity of the isolator unit and maintenance
  • Maintain work area in an organized, aseptic, and safe condition
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Able to handle laboratory animals and recognize abnormalities
  • Demonstrate commitment to provide the highest quality care for laboratory animals and their offspring
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly and efficiently
  • Accurately calculate and record numbers
  • Good teamwork skills
  • Able to work in a confined environment
  • Work in a standing position that will require bending and stretching of arms and legs throughout regular work shift
  • Lift and move objects regularly throughout shift
  • Avoid contact with rodent species outside of work
