Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and experienced Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) or Sr. Engineer PE to join our growing Design Management Services team Virginia Beach, VA. This role works closely with a diverse team of engineers, designers, and specialists to deliver projects to a variety of clients including municipalities, counties, commercial and industrial entities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be involved in Civil Engineering related project aspects including studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Projects may include planning, modeling, and design of facilities such as water and wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, pump stations, utilities (water transmission, gravity sanitary sewer mains, force mains, etc.), hydraulics and hydrology, drainage design, site plans, roadway, and other miscellaneous civil design projects.
  • Ability to execute engineering best practices for civil engineering projects for a wide variety of clients, adapting to new environments quickly.
  • Assist senior staff in the production of project plans, specifications, scheduling, budgeting, technical memorandums and cost estimates.
  • Assist senior staff with construction management tasks such as material submittal reviews build reviews and coordination with Contractors.
  • Conduct site visits, surveys and inspections, and assist with data collection, compilation and assessment for infrastructure projects.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, cities/clients, and other public agencies.

Qualifications

Requirements for Civil Engineer EIT:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of related experience in municipal, state, and land development engineering.
  • Active Engineer in Training (EIT) certification for the State of Virginia required or in the process of completing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be flexible, well organized, accountable, and dependable.
  • Physically able to perform work in the field.

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience using computer assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering and design documents (examples include software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS).
  • Demonstrated success in achieving scope, schedule, and budget goals.

Requirements for Sr. Engineer - PE:

  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Virginia or ability to obtain Virginia license within 6 months.
  • 8+ years of related experience.
  • Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D with grading, drainage, and stormwater management, in private, public, or Federal land development projects is desired.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with VDEQ stormwater and erosion control regulations and requirements.
  • Ability to handle working on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Work well in a group/team setting.
  • Experience with Client management.
  • Experience in development of project scopes, programming, and fee proposals.
