JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY:

This is an entry level job or temporary position for new hires joining the company.  Workers in the labor pool are assigned to operating and service departments to assist with extra work load, cover absences and vacations, and supplement crews required to meet unusual changes in the elements-heat, cold, severe weather, etc.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Performs assigned laboring jobs.

2. Works under direction of department supervisor or group leader and receives job training from department trainer.

3. May be assigned to any unskilled job at the production facility or jobsite location.

4. Employees with previous training and experience as a forklift operator may sub for absent forklift operators.

5. Performs other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Cut/grind material in preparation for installation

2. Functional understanding of basic fabrication principles

3. Proficient in the installation and removal of fasteners and rivets

4. Pulls lines and helps set up as directed by mechanic/supervisor

5. Follows jobsite cleanliness principles

6. Shows initiative and contacts supervisor of work stoppages

7. Ability to read measuring tape/ruler

8. Proficient use of power tools (grinder, reciprocating saws, etc.)

9. Basic use of hand tools

10.Correct set up of tools prior to use (tagging lines, drop tests, etc.)

11.Knowledge of power tool safety (kick direction, pinch points, etc.)

12.Understands and follows fire safety principles

13.Practical knowledge and adherence to industry safety standards

14.Requires constant oversight to accomplish tasks

JOB REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or GED required

2. Ability to gain access to military installations

3. Must pass drug test and background check


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally 

2. Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs/vertical ladders; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

                                            
This is a physically demanding position and may accommodate some physical disabilities. Physical dexterity may be required when performing walk thru and inspection of job sites. In the performance of the walk thru you will be required to transverse steep stairwells, vertical ladders and bending or stooping thru tight spaces. There may be occasional lifting of materials weighing not more than 50 pounds. 


ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

This position works on the jobsite. There is exposure to hostile environments, loud noises, hazardous chemicals/fumes and airborne particles, smoke, extreme temperatures moving mechanical parts: high, precarious places. 

During work-site visits will be required to wear appropriate PPE including, but not limited to:

  • Hard Hat
  • Ear Plugs or Attenuator
  • Safety Shoes
  • Dust Mask or Respirator
  • Gloves

2. Adherence to company and industry safety standards

3. Proactive in helping mechanic accomplish work

4. Aptitude shown for increasing trade knowledge and skills
