Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking a highly motivated customer service driven leader with extensive facilities maintenance oversight experience to include properties in support of Sheriff and Fire & Rescue operations, as well as the Facility Security Team and Emergency Power Response Team.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction for a large and diverse facilities maintenance team of Crew Chiefs, Building Systems Engineers, and Technicians. The Division Manager will plan, organize, and manage the Public Safety & Security Facility Maintenance division, building security, and special statutory facilities maintenance and operations such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and air quality provisions of the OSHA program. This position will also oversee contract services to perform mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, security, audio-visual system repairs and maintenance to meet program requirements for public safety and security facilities.

In addition, the individual should understand operating and capital budget processes, government contract and procurement regulations, and energy and sustainability best practices. The ideal candidate will be able to work with changing goals and priorities on a daily basis and demonstrate sound decision-making in reaction to incoming emergencies, requests, and staff observations. 

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Project Management, Construction Management, Business, Public Administration, or a department-related area; five (5) years of directly related, progressively responsible work experience including two (2) years in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a government setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Prefer any of the following: Facility Management Professional (FMP), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), and/or Master's License (Mechanical, Electrical and/or Plumbing) issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia or a neighboring state.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). Prefer professional/management certification in an area related to the assigned department and active membership in job-related professional organizations.

Subject to recall or being held beyond scheduled workday. Must be available to respond to County emergencies 24/7 as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive. This position is considered "essential."
