Job Description
Job Summary

This role is a temporary position within CCPT. Employment in this role is limited to a maximum of 8 months from the start date assigned by the recruiter.


The following qualification must be met during the first four months of employment:

Successfully complete the position orientation program to include enrollment in a Virginia Office of EMS (OEMS) Emergency Medical Technician course. An employee who becomes certified by OEMS as an EMT within the eight months of employment in this temporary position may seek to continue employment with CCPT by applying for a CCPT EMT or Communications Specialist I position. Successfully completing the requirements of the temporary position, regardless of any related service commitments, is not a guarantee of hire into an EMT or Communications Specialist role.


The Ambulance Support Associate maintains maintenance, cleanliness, and supplies of ambulances and hospital locations as needed.

  • Maintains ambulance supplies at the base and on vehicles.
  • Delivers supplies and/or equipment to hospital locations.
  • Washes and cleans ambulances and medical equipment in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Conducts ambulance maintenance checks, including oxygen, fuel, tire pressure, and fluids and corrects any maintenance issues.
  • Drives ambulances and other company vehicles and adheres to proper safety procedures and state law during the operation of vehicles to deliver supplies.
  • Enters data in electronic systems. Prioritizes daily duties and follows supervisory instructions.
  • Interacts with internal and external individuals and uses communication tools appropriately including email, text, and phone.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School graduate or equivalent required.

Experience: Minimum age of 18 years on date of hire and at least 2 years of clean driving history required.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Valid Virginia driver's license and driving record that meets the compliance standard of the Carilion Clinic driver eligibility guidelines required on the date of hire. Must meet Office of EMS requirements for a criminal history background check on the date of hire and maintain this standard for the duration of employment.

Life Support: AHA BLS - HCP and EVOC required within 30 days of hire date. HAZMAT awareness required within six months of hire date.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Maintains driving record in compliance with Carilion Clinic driver eligibility guidelines for the duration of employment. Proficient in computer and keyboard skills. Attention to detail and accuracy. Must be able to work efficiently, manage time wisely, and follow policy and procedures with minimal supervision. Must have good interpersonal, communication, and listening skills. Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for the position.
