Job Description

The Tack Truck Driver is responsible for the maintenance and operation of heavy machinery.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assist the loading of truck to ensure proper order and weight distribution, assure safety and minimal risk to cargo, equipment and danger to people.
  • Perform daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety issues to supervisors.
  • Work with the asphalt paving crew when the distributor is not required.
  • Load tack truck oil from tank.
  • Fill asphalt and burner tanks, cleaning and setting spray bars, and cleaning excess asphalt out of tanks.
  • Responsible for cleaning the truck and maintaining good housekeeping.

Requirements:

  • Good driving record
  • Commercial Driver's License
  • Tanker Endorsement
  • Knowledge of weight requirements of loads.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while on duty. PPE includes; safety vest, gloves, hard hat and work boots.
  • Maintain safety as top priority in accordance with company safety rules.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Be able to sit for long periods of time while operating equipment.
  • Be able to climb or balance, stoop, kneel crouch or crawl.
  • Frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Saturday starting at 5:30 a.m. This position is at least 40 hours per week with required overtime. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule and location changes.

Travel
May have to travel within 100-mile radius.
