Job Summary

We’re seeking qualified Recreation Instructors to perform meaningful work, connecting our communities through programming, and exceptional learning experiences. Recreation Instructors teach arts and crafts, music, dance, cooking, sports, camps, wellness, STEM, and other recreation programming. Successful candidates will exemplify effective communication and planning skills. PRCS serves a diverse population of youth, adults, individuals with disabilities and seniors.

For positions in Fitness and Aquatics programming, please apply to the advertisements for Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor and Swim Instructor. For Summer Camps, please apply for the Summer Camp Instructor advertisement when available.

We’re hiring for the following division/program areas throughout Loudoun County:

  • Sports
  • Parks
  • Franklin Park Arts Center
  • Senior Centers & Adult Centers
  • Community Centers
  • Adaptive Recreation (Individuals with disabilities)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Motivates class participants and upholds center policies and procedures while teaching classes.
  • Prepares for class in a timely manner with set-up and breakdown of equipment and materials.
  • Instructs and monitors participants during class by showing proper form, use of equipment, and modifications based on participant skills and abilities.
  • Completes all administrative responsibilities associated with developing, planning and leading classes.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment for participants, staff, and other instructors before, during, and after class.
  • Actively promote and seek new participants for all classes and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Stays up to date with industry standards and subject matter trends.
  • Communicates effectively with staff and all patrons.
  • Participate in monthly meetings, events, and in-services.
  • May perform additional duties related to their position.

Schedules are flexible and can include morning, evening, and weekend hours. Hours vary based on client, center, and some holiday needs. 

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of 8th grade.
Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and 30 pounds frequently.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Six (6) months of experience teaching subject matter classes.
Bilingual.
CPR/First Aid certification.
