    Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense secret security clearance must be obtainable. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Advanced Program Finance Specialist. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    • Partner with business teams to prepare, analyze and evaluate financial information associated with the program (s) for budget, forecast, pricing, planning, invoicing and control
    • Provide value added and forward looking analysis to support business decisions
    • Monitors actual costs of program and compares to budgeted costs to identify and understand variances
    • Interprets data to determine present and future financial performance
    • Performs month end close activities for assigned programs
    • Performs studies and summarizes recommendations related to investment/business opportunities, future trends and impact of governmental requirements/financial regulations
    • Leads and coordinates the processes and procedures for collecting, consolidating, analyzing, and developing departmental or cost pool budgets, capital budgets, Strategic Business Plans, New Business Funds, and/or Rate Control
    • Performs work that is consultative in nature and includes complex analysis
    • This is the career level in many professional specialties
    • Subject matter expert (SME) in one discipline/field and developing working knowledge in adjacent disciplines/fields


    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction
    • Highly proficient and able to perform all responsibilities associated with the position
    • Grasps and applies new information quickly; handles more complex assignments
    • Leadership and supervisory skills
    • Intermediate knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley audit and reporting requirements
    • Intermediate knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Intermediate technical knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
    • Intermediate technical knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
    • General Dynamics MS division policies and procedures
    • Proficient computer skills, including MS Excel, MS Word, Essbase, Hyperion and Oracle
    • In-depth knowledge of all computerized Finance Systems
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Moderately complex financial analysis skills
    • Intermediate knowledge of Long Term Accounting for Government contracts, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Financial Accounting Standards Board statements, Securities Exchange Act
    • Intermediate knowledge of revenue recognition and profit analysis concepts and techniques


    PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
