Position Description

Primary Responsibilities
• Reviews proposal budgets, revisions, new grant agreements, and modifications for compliance with funder regulations and firm policies;
• Maintains grant binders and other official grant documents;
• Maintains the proposal log that provides the status of proposals in development at firm, proposals submitted to funders and proposals that have been issued or canceled;
• Reviews journal entries for accuracy and compliance with firm and funder regulations;
• Reviews monthly job cost reports and assists program staff with over-budget and other financial issues; communicates with Regional program staff on an on-going basis regarding financial issues;
• Provides training, when needed, on various grant administration matters such as budgeting and analyzing/understanding job cost reports;
• Coordinates with Subgrants, General Accounting and International Accounting divisions as necessary;
• Communicates with funders as necessary;
• Assists in the preparation and review of audit schedules as assigned;
• Assists in the preparation of Board reports;
• Prepares written materials for the intranet;

Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in accounting or similar field;
• Minimum seven (7) years of grant administration accounting, preferably in an international nonprofit environment. Additional years of relevant work experience may be substituted for educational requirement on a one-for-one basis;
• Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff, government, and vendors;
• High level of oral and written communication skills to effectively present detailed financial information, respond to questions from managers, staff and vendors;
• Ability to act in an advisory capacity with program staff on financial matters relating to grants;
• Demonstrated ability to read, analyze and interpret government regulations;
• Ability to analyze budgets, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions;
• Capability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Exceptional knowledge of PC-based word processing, spreadsheet applications, Cost Point system and accounting-related software;
• Working knowledge of OMB Circulars A-110, A-122 and A-133.
