Position/Internship Description

Brotman•Winter•Fried Communications offers a highly interactive, creative, hands-on exposure opportunity for students and recent graduates looking to gain valuable experience, skills and contacts within the public relations, sports, entertainment, corporate, restaurant and special event industries, all within the frameworks of a fun yet professional working environment. During the semester at Brotman•Winter•Fried, you will experience several real world aspects of a public relations agency, including writing press releases, creating media lists, public relations campaign production and implementation, promotional activities, on-site project involvement, event marketing and planning, some client contact and possibly some advertising work. You will take an active role in a variety of different accounts, including local, regional and national, both at large corporate and small local levels. Interns are considered entry-level employees. They are given the projects and tasks that would normally be assigned in this position and are expected to complete these projects in an accurate and timely manner. Although we operate within a very casual environment, please understand that certain professional boundaries do exist and we fully expect interns to behave in a professional manner at all times. Each intern has been assigned to an account executive or account team for the duration of the semester. This will be your direct supervisor and will be who you report to each day. You will work with this account executive/team on all projects, and will be given the opportunity to see projects through from beginning to end. Once a month, you will sit down with either your direct supervisor or the internship coordinator and discuss your progress with the company. This is an UNPAID internship. We will reimburse you for any costs incurred on the job (travel, etc.), but there is no salary or stipend offered to interns. Interns must be available a minimum of three days a week during the semester, with a minimum of 24 hours of work completed each week. With our company being small, we rely on interns to assist on all of our accounts; you are not paper-pushers, you are key members of the account team. When interns are not in the office, we are unable to rely on them, and the situation is not beneficial for us or for the intern. The ideal intern is available four days a week, 6-7 hours each day- but three days a week will suffice.
