Director of Educational Research and Analysis
Founded in 1993, College Summit is a national non-profit organization with a mission to transform the college admissions process and increase the college enrollment rate of low-income students.
Job Responsibilities:
< The Director of Educational Research and Analysis is responsible for researching, analyzing and communicating the results of College Summit’s impact on its partner high schools.
Residing in College Summit Education Department and providing analytic expertise to examine the relationship between programmatic factors and desired educational outcomes,
The Director of Educational Research and Analysis collaborates closely with the technology, operations, education training and curriculum research and design teams to help create a performance management environment that will drive student results.
The Director will also develop educational evaluation tools to determine the efficacy of College Summit’s various pilot programs already underway.
The Director of Educational Research and Analysis builds, coaches, and supports a team of analysts to create rigorous, efficient and transparent reports to College Summit’s various stakeholders, including funders, school districts, the media and educators.
In addition, the Director will coach, advise and help train internal partners about how to use educational data to explain outcomes and to identify areas of strength and challenges.
The Director will also play a central role in the collaborative design and implementation of several new educational products that deliver analytic services to school districts outside of the scope of the current College Summit delivery model.
Successful fulfillment of the duties requires:
Sophisticated knowledge of, and capability with, advanced statistical techniques and software, ideally in the context of using data for programmatic and instructional decision making.
Intimate knowledge of software development lifecycle planning isn’t necessary, but an understanding of the importance of deliberate operational and technological processes and a passion for working in teams to develop those processes is.
The Director will also have experience in and a deep appreciation of the cultures and processes of high schools that serve primarily low-income students.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Lead individual and collaborative data analysis that examines the relationship between program implementation and student results, based on a deep understanding of student behavior and drivers of enrollment and effectiveness
• Manage Education Department’s reporting team and collaborate with other data input stakeholders to ensure that all internal and external reporting obligations are on schedule and fulfilled
• Work with CAO and other College Summit executives to use data to revise and refine strategic direction of College Summit
• Serve as primary College Summit student outcomes leader, informing, coaching, and training College Summit team members, including regional staff, Development Department, Marketing, and the senior leadership teams.
Qualifications:
• 7 Years of experience in educational research and school outcome evaluations
• Terminal degree in education with an emphasis on statistics, research and evaluation, preferably at the Ph.D. or Ed.D. level,
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including record of publication and public speaking
• Demonstrated excellence in personnel and budgetary management
• Experience with standard social science statistical software and Business Objects, and facility with the MS Office suite
• Sense of humor; imagination; patience; appreciation of the nexus of education and business strategies; entrepreneurial spirit; flexibility
