WHAT DOES A Tax Analyst DO?
IRS Tax Analysts provide analysis and guidance to executives,
field managers, and employees in the assigned program area. Plan,
coordinate, and conduct analytical studies, and/or projects. Develop
and prepare operating guidelines, instructions, and other material
pertaining to assigned program areas. They Interpret, develop, adapt,
and coordinate analytical reviews of new policies, procedures, and
program requirements of the Service and their impact on operations
and resources. Apply and disseminate newly developed or revised
policies and procedures for use in field operations.

MAJOR DUTIES:

As a Tax Analyst, your work begins with a
consultation with your IRS customer, from whom you obtain information
on the customer's organizational goals and objectives. The position
serves in the full-working level capacity as an analyst with
responsibility for performing technical and analytical staff work.
The work includes planning, coordinating, and conducting analytical
studies, and/or projects. Programs include activities such as
strategic compliance program planning, business systems planning,
customer account services, taxpayer education and communications,
administrative support and adjunct functions.
