| Position Summary: |
| Provide safe therapeutic care in a holistic and systemic way to complex patients. Anticipates potential cultural differences and adapts the care as indicated. Integrates knowledge, skills and clinical experiences to meet the complex needs of patients. Demonstrates respect and understanding of other clinical disciplines and seek input in the development, measurement and evaluation of patients outcomes. Utilizes standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery. Able to recognize clinical variances and trends in patient populations and make recommendations for change to minimize variances. Incorporates data, QI process and best practices to improve and enhance patient outcomes. |

| Requirements: |
BCLS required, ACLS preferred. Meets minimum requirements for a surgical first assistant as governed by the State of Virginia and all applicable statutes, regulations and institutional policies relevant to Surgical Assistants. Certification required from a nationally recognized body to certify such as the National Surgical Assistance Association, the American Board of Surgical Assistants as a Surgical First Assistant or the National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants Surgery Exam. Ability to community effectively in English, works routinely without direct supervision, demonstrate good judgment, and understand and implement infection control and hospital safety practices.

| Education Requirements: |
| Medical School graduate with surgical training and certified in the United States as a Certified Surgical Assistant or able to obtain the certification within 6 months. |
