Salary/Benefit Notes:US Residents Only. Annual salary is negotiable. In addition to salary, ATSSA provides a 10% contribution to a retirement plan and a 2% match to employee 401K contributions of 4% or more of salary. We also have flexible work hours, including a 9-day option with one additional day off every other week.

Position Description

The American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) seeks An Associate Director, Technical Assistance Center. The key responsibilities of the Associate Director, Technical Assistance Center are to provide provisions of technical assistance in the area of roadway safety to the members, staffing both internal and external committees, and assisting chapters in attaining strategic goals which are often executed in cooperation with state DOTs. The Associate Director will also represent ATSSA at various industry events and forums. Examples may include: the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices; the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials; the National Transportation Product Evaluation Program; TRB Annual Meeting and committees; NCHRP project review panels, and others.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred, however, substantial experience may be substituted for a degree. Well organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and well under pressure; computer literate; good oral, written, interpersonal skills. Travel up to 35%. Must have a working knowledge of the MUTCD and state DOT processes. Must have a working knowledge of the following documents: Standard Highway Signs Manual, Traffic Control Devices Handbook, NCHRP Report #350.
