POSITION TITLE Senior Director, Community and School-Based Programs

SUPERVISOR Chief Executive Officer
PRIMARY PURPOSES OF JOB
Responsible for managing the intersection between community development and educational practice to meet the needs of students and families in the partner schools and community programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Management:
Knowledge and skills in effective supervision including personnel selection, training, observation, assessment and evaluation of personnel; effective communication
including initiating individual and group discussion, listening , clarifying and facilitating interaction among group members; organizational strategic planning, program policy development and implementation oversight; budget development; grants management; guiding formation and maintenance of strategic partnerships; and leadership role as liaison to Charter School Board and Board of Directors
2. Community-Based Programs:
Community leadership experience; project-based arts, out of school time and summer curriculum planning; and related standards and outcomes
experience.
3. School Based Programs:
Educational leadership expertise; dual language curriculum knowledge; and familiarity with curriculum and assessment standards

5. Oversee programs serving children kindergarten through 12th grade during the school day and in out of school time.
6. Work closely with the outcomes manager to coordinate and provide data to staff in the area of instruction, evaluation and research on best practices to improve student outcomes to develop a results-based plan
7. Oversee program budgets and support grant writing and resource development alongside finance and development departments.
8. Liaise between program and institutional leadership at executive and board levels.
9. Develops, maintains and nurtures the relationships with the school administration to foster the partnership
10. Assures that hours of operation and supervision in the school fulfill the basic principles of the community school strategy; extended hours, extended relationships and extended service
11. Engage parents and community members in school activities including one to one meetings and community surveys; facilitate referrals of students and family members for needed services of the school
12. Collect, evaluate and report on outcomes data of community school strategies and programs
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
7-10 years of extensive experience giving equal value to academic and community “experts” in addition to a strong background in managing staff, maintaining strong working relationships with partner school and agency representatives, and in working with diverse children and families.
BA in education or related field. MA preferred.
