The Health Solutions Division is seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead technical solution design, development, and implementation for a large scale information integration and data analysis project for federal clients. The successful candidate will have experience with data modeling and schema design, data harmonization and normalization, and data integration approaches and technologies such as those used in multi-source enterprise application integration, enterprise information integration, and service-oriented architecture solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Provide technical leadership on design, development, and execution of data architecture and data integration solutions for complex health system(s)
• Develop and use relevant data standards and domain information models to satisfy data-driven functional and non-functional requirements and, where appropriate, to achieve compliance with mandated standards
• Participate in proposing new technical architectures and solutions to improve and enhance existing architectures
• Determine scope and provide level of effort estimates for data architecture tasks and related activities, and assists project management in matching required skill sets to task requirements and allocating team resources appropriately
• Provide data architecture subject matter expertise and services for new and existing projects
• Evaluate and test emerging technologies/tools
• Conduct or facilitate collaborative data modeling activities among multiple stakeholders
• Support the business development efforts where data architecture and analysis requirements are defined
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, physical or life sciences, or equivalent.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in the following areas: data modeling, data integration, data interoperability, and/or data governance in support of complex programs and IT initiatives.
• Experience in data architecture, conceptual and logical data modeling, and data layer work within common architectural frameworks and system development life cycle methodologies.
• Background in working with data relevant to public health monitoring initiatives, such as adverse event reporting, health alerts, epidemiology or health informatics.
• Ability to analyze existing solutions and practices, in order to derive an existing data model.
• Knowledge of health data standards.
• Experience in data interoperability analysis and normalization, including data integration requirements.
• Knowledge of data modeling notation, such as UML or IDEF1X.
• Expertise using one or more leading data modeling tools, such as ER/Win, Data Architect, or Rational Rose Data Modeler.
• Understanding of the continuum of data processing to include what data to collect, how to collect it, how to analyze it, and what to recommend in order to assure meaningful information for action.
• Utilization of best practice methodologies and tools for data analysis including logistical regression, statistical sampling, surveys, SAS, SPSS, and genetic modeling.
• Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
• Good understanding of Federal government contracting.
• Experience with drug and/or device adverse event data and ability to work closely with life science community (epidemiologists, etc).
• DC Metro area location is required. Travel may be necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in a relevant technical discipline.
• Experience architecting and designing complex health IT systems.
• Familiarity with information integration activities such as mapping and transformation, data validation, and data analysis including data mining and business intelligence.
