Job Description

The Systems Architect acts independently, or leads a group of technical contributors, while maintaining top-level responsibility for detailed systems analysis and design during business capture, proposal development and/or delivery. He/she will design and architect effective CRM and Call Center solutions for the company's customers and prospective customers, identify core strategic technologies for the company's CRM and Call Center business, and write effective technical proposals which define CRM and Call Center solutions and highlight the benefits of such solutions. This individual will also work with other architects to create integrated and SOA solutions.

Responsibilities:
• Formulates approach to systems scope and objectives relative to a client's requirements
• Articulates the client's problems and primary business drivers and develops conceptual, logical, and physical solutions which address those needs
• Creates reusable assets and frameworks that enable the adoption and usage of solution blueprints
• Effectively integrates core capabilities with new technology to successfully implement systems development projects and standards definitions
• Participates in client meetings and presentations to set expectations and to discuss client responsibilities, requirements, initiatives, and concepts
• Participates in efforts to set technical direction and build capabilities in the engineering organization
• Acts independently or as a member of a project team responsible for providing technical guidance concerning the business implications of the application of various systems
• Validates existing system architectures and makes recommendations for improvements
• Leads the development of prototypes that may be required during capture process and/or the early delivery stages, or in support of R&D efforts
• Investigates new initiatives and opportunities for appropriateness with respect to strategic goals for both New and Add-on Business
• Supports New Business Development and Software Project Managers in the role of Systems Architect during the proposal stage of business capture (i.e. writing proposal sections)
• Supports the Program Manager and the Software Project Manager in the role of Systems Architect during the transition and delivery phase of solution implementation
• Maintains an in-depth knowledge of a specific current technology, both internally and within the industry, and its applicability to the organization
• Ensures industry and Vangent's best practices and assets are leveraged and improved when necessary.


Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent degree or experience
• In-depth knowledge of current CRM and Contact Center technologies (Siebel, Rightnow, Genesys, Verint) both internally and within the industry, and its applicability to the organization
• Broad knowledge of current industry technologies, methodologies and designs, and their applicability and appropriateness in various solution architectures
• Strong work ethic and a high degree of integrity and professionalism
• Ability to provide coaching, counseling, and mentoring to staff
• Expertise at developing winning technical solutions
• Exceptional listening, creativity, and deductive reasoning skills
• Ability to think clearly under pressure
• Demonstrates confidence and credibility in front of senior management and clients
• Creativity with developing innovative technical approaches as complete solutions to business problems
• Skill with facilitating and leading work groups, and working productively with a wide range of people
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or MIS
• 9 years of current experience in providing business consulting and/or technology consulting services and solutions to clients
• 3+ years of experience in providing consulting services to US Federal Government clients
