Position Description

This position is located in the District of Columbia, Office of the State Superintendent of Education, Department of Special Education (DSE). This position reports to the Financial Policy Manager. The federal grants program analyst is responsible for the day-to-day management of the DSE's federal grant programs. The DSE's grant funds must be managed according to the Individuals with Disability Act (IDEA), Part B and C, EDGAR as well as district and federal laws. This position will also assist in the management and implementation of the DSE's Corrective Action Plan by analyzing the department's needs and creating effective policies and procedures, aligned with the Federal grants' fiscal regulations. The incumbent will also work with charter school local education agencies (LEAs) to improve their fiscal management (accounting procedures, internal controls) of federal funds. Long term, this position will work with a team to develop tools and policies that will assist the DSE in its day to day responsibilities; support LEAs in managing their grant funds; ensure financial transparency, and align fiscal resources to support programmatic initiatives.
