Description

This position will coordinate and manage all aspects and budgets of the Federal and NOVA Work-Study programs at NOVA and work with off-campus, non-profit entities to secure placements for America Reads tutors and FWS community service positions. Will assign and supervise work-study students within the College Financial Aid Office. Will analyze student financial aid applications and determine eligibility and awards consistent with institutional, state and federal rules and regulations. Will assist the Director and Associate Directors with training of students and staff and will assist in other areas as assigned.

Requirements

Required:

  • Comprehensive experience and knowledge in state, federal and institutional financial aid programs. Should possess between considerable years of progressively more responsible financial aid experience.
  • Knowledge of federal compliance requirements, college policies for hiring and ability to manage a large budget, $800,000 or more.
  • Ability to manage fiscal year budgets utilizing financial recording systems and to meet deadlines for accurate federal and institutional reporting.
  • Familiarity with PC software, particularly financial aid management software programs, such as PeopleSoft and payroll reports and financial management systems, including FRS and VCCS payroll. Knowledge of document imaging systems, particularly ImageNow.
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures to monitor budgetary requirements governing the programs and to track and monitor student wages in relationship to awards.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new systems.
  • Strong customer service experience, and communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business administration, accounting, human services, counseling, communications, social sciences or related course of study. Comprehensive experience and knowledge in state, federal and institutional financial aid programs. Considerable years of progressively more responsible experience working in a college student financial aid or accounting office. Proven experience in managing an on-and-off campus federal work-study program and budget. Experience with PC software applications, particularly MS Office Suite and PeopleSoft.
