Job Title: Organizational Development Specialist
Department: Field Operations
Reports To: Director of State and Field Support

SUMMARY
This position is a member of the Field Operations Team, providing services to build capacity and strengthen Communities In Schools state offices and local network affiliates. The position will team with other Field Operations members working with state offices to build their capacity. Provide guidance and support to local network affiliates (where there are no state offices). The position will also manage grants and other initiatives, and provide training/technical assistance as needed/assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as the contact person for specific assignments with state offices and assigned local network affiliates in states without state offices, providing proactive guidance and technical assistance as needed and requested.
• Provide proactive support and technical assistance for quality assurance to affiliates, working with them in groups based on assessments and developing strategies for growth and sustainability.
• Develop and coordinate activities designed to increase state office capacity as requested.
• Assist in the development of new state offices as assigned and appropriate.
• Work to build the capacity of specific local network affiliates in targeted market areas.
• Serve as Grant Manager/CIS Liaison for assigned grants, coordinating required grant-funded activities, tracking use of grant funds, and fulfilling reporting requirements.
• Conduct training/technical assistance and other related activities as needed and assigned.
• Participate in CIS national office meetings, trainings, task forces, work groups, and other assigned activities.
As a team member with the Field Department and the CIS national office, provide support and assistance to other departments and CIS colleagues.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Advanced degree in a social sciences or related discipline, with a minimum of 1 year related experience working with non-profits or a BS degree and 3 years experience with organizational development, non-profit management, provision of technical assistance and grants management preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, training materials and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various groups of stakeholders and trainees.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Ability to use computers and communicate via email. Skill in use of the following programs: Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
TRAVEL: Moderate travel required. Estimated 12-24 trips annually.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position is located at the Communities In Schools national office in Arlington, Va.
Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality are required. The office space is new, contemporary and comfortable. With an open floor plan and moderate noise level.
