| Duties: | Provide on-site (Program Office) technical leadership for customer initiatives to develop advanced infra-red (IR) payloads. Focus areas include: (1) assessing mission needs; (2) devising and executing acquisition strategies and objectives; (3) CONOPS and requirements maturation; (4) hardware and software development and sell-off; and (5) incorporation of IR payload(s) into the overall Collection Segment. Candidates must have a broad range of technical disciplines associated with IR payloads -- e.g., detectors and underlying electronics, thermal, opto-mechanical, calibration, performance, risk mitigation, manufacturing and test, etc. The position will require extensive involvement in planning and executing acquisition activities -- SOW and RFP development, proposal evaluations, SRR, PDRs and CDRs. The position is also responsible for coordinating and integrating ETG support for sensor/payload activities. Frequent travel within the CONUS is required. This position is located in Chantilly, Virginia. |
| Qualifications: | B.S. (advanced degree preferred) in a scientific or engineering discipline directly related to IR systems, with a minimum of 12 years experience is required. Knowledge of electro-optical sensor requirements, design and verification is required. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and integrate support from a matrix engineering organization to satisfy customer needs is required. Ability to work individually and with integrated government/contractor teams is required. Superior communications skills, written and oral, are required. Experience in a space program office is desired. Current SBI and successful polygraph is required. |
