Executive Assistant

The George Mason University, Office of the Senior Vice President, State Government Relations is seeking applications for an Executive Assistant opportunity. This position will be based out of Richmond, Virginia.

The Executive Assistant to the Director of State Government Relations will assist the Director in routine duties of office management as well as timely content Web updates for the Government Relations Web page at Mason. The Assistant will also track major resource activities in the general assembly and the executive branch for reporting to the Director. The Executive Assistant will work closely with University Relations for communication coordination; and manage office functions while assisting the Director in legislative, regulatory and other government liaise needs to partner Mason with the commonwealth.

Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of standard office procedures, administration of correspondence and meetings, as well as knowledge of Mason procedures;
- Working knowledge of Lobbyist in a Box legislative tracking is a plus;
- The ability to operate personal computers, duplicating machines, fax machines and standard office telephones is required;
- Ability to maintain Web site content by understanding of need, to know and appropriate content for the internal and external audience, as well as experience organizing government-focused events;
- B.S. in government relations or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or professional experience will be considered;
- Excellent communication, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills; and
- Demonstrated working knowledge as an executive assistant, preferably in Richmond governmental agencies or at George Mason University is strongly desired.
