Position Description
One of the foremost public policy research organizations in the United States, MPR is leading the way in providing health and human services research to federal agencies such as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Department of Defense (DoD), and the National Science Foundation (NSF).
We are seeking an experienced research programmer or systems professional to process and analyze data using SAS in support of a variety of research projects. MPR research programmers transform data into research ready databases designed for investigating important policy topics.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 5+ years of SAS programming experience preferably in a research environment with health care and/or social policy applications. Experience with other high-level programming languages such as C, FORTRAN and/or COBOL a plus.
• Experience designing, constructing and analyzing large databases for research analysis.
• Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team including researchers, research analysts, systems analysts, and programmers. Strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to work with others.
• Ability to write clear and concise technical memos, report sections, and system documentation.
• Experience with statistical applications such as Stata and SPSS, IBM mainframe MVS, JCL and TSO/ISPF Microsoft Access, VBA, and SQL a plus.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Economics, Public Policy, Math or other discipline relevant to programming in a policy research setting.
