| Job Description: World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the global conservation organization, seeks a highly qualified individual to provide management and scientific expertise on climate change adaptation for both WWF and the Ecosystems and Livelihoods Adaptation Network (ELAN). The Director, ELAN will help coordinate the management of ELAN and provide additional scientific leadership for WWF adaptation programs, in conjunction with other WWF staff. He/she will work closely with IUCN, WWF National organizations, other conservation and development groups and other organizations/agencies to develop and strengthen the ELAN partnership. The incumbent will participate in making decisions regarding the function and governance of ELAN, including interacting and negotiating with high-level officials of other WWF Network Organizations, other conservation groups, development organizations, leading researchers, and officials from governments and international organizations. She/he will help to plan and lead meetings of advisory and governance groups, and be a part of the team providing technical support and training to field programs on IAV assessments, adaptation options, and implementing adaptation projects. She/he will also, as appropriate to skill level and knowledge, provide ongoing reports on developments in, for example, the broad areas of foreign assistance and adaptation finance; provide leadership and support for international negotiations around adaptation, and work with WWF Global Deal Network Initiative. They will provide ongoing reports to the Managing Director for Climate Change Adaptation, the Vice President for Climate Change and other senior WWF personnel, including the Senior Vice President for Policy and WWF’s President and CEO. Basic Requirements: 10 years climate change science research required with 3 or more years experience relevant to adaptation research and project implementation. Ph.D. in social or natural sciences preferred. Background in marine sciences and/or working with Government or Intergovernmental Agencies (e.g., USAID, GEF) is a plus. It is essential that the incumbent have extensive experience in cross-disciplinary, multi-organization, and international cooperation in project management and implementation.
