JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Strategic Systems Analysis Group (SSAG) primarily conducts analysis of the qualitative and quantitative nature for the Navy Strategic Systems Program (SSP).
The major focus of this position is to support analysis for SSP as it relates to the size, crewing, basing, and operations of Navy assets providing strategic deterrence.
Training and guidance will be provided for this individual to initially acquire sufficient understanding of the theory and methods used in the problems we solve and the software tools we develop and use.
The goal is to eventually have the individual maintain, modify, update, or create new analytical solution methods (including software) as new problems or changing circumstances dictate along with the ability to assemble summary briefings for the client, from initial problem statement to analysis results and their implications.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Skills, Experience, Education):
Applied Operations Research Analyst/Developer. Requires Bachelor's or Master's degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Physics.
Strong methodological and computational skills, background in mathematical programming, i.e., optimization, and some experience with languages such as C, C++, JAVA, or Python is mandatory, while experience in using math programming solvers such as CPLEX or GAMS is preferred.
Working knowledge of basic statistics, probability, stochastic processes and physics is desirable.
Focus is not primarily on software development, but willingness to program is necessary and a background in algorithm design and/or optimization are pluses.
Prior work experience to supplement this background is a plus.
Applicant must have the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.
