Position Description

The selected employee for this position will design, development, test embedded computer assemblies and interfaces and assist in shipboard integration of a major new Navy Electro-Optical subsystem.

The system contains three major subassemblies, each of which contains an embedded computer controller/processor to manage the functionality of the subsystem and interfaces to shipboard systems.

This employee will focus his efforts on the two largest of these assemblies.

There are multiple Ethernet and direct hardwire connections between the new design subsystems and the ship.

The system design will be required to meet stringent reliability, safety and environmental requirements driven by the particular shipboard application of this system.

Experience

Experience developing hardware to a Requirements Specification Document

Experience completing tasks to a strict schedule and budget

Experience creating Power Point Presentations for Reviews

Experience designing and developing embedded computer controlled hardware

Experience drawing circuit diagrams and documenting design processes

Experience with Ethernet interfaces and communications protocols

Experience with embedded computer hardware interfaces

Experience with design and development of custom integrated circuit boards

Experience with circuit board design and layout software tools

Experience developing parts list and bill of materials for designed assemblies

Experience with procurement and tracking of computer and electronic hardware items

Experience operating and limited software programming of embedded computers

Experience testing embedded computer systems

Experience with digital test instrumentation, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers & probes

Experience with soldering, rapid prototyping and fabrication of test interfaces

Experience with Micro Soft Office tools including Micro Soft Project
