Position Description
A start-up bakery in downtown Washington DC is seeking a talented Staff Accountant. This bakery has an established reputation of providing scrumptious baked goods to some of the Washington DC area’s leading restaurants. The corporate culture is family oriented and lively and they are looking for a staff accountant to bring their technical skills as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills to this growing company.

Job Responsibilities: At present the accounting function for this bakery is largely outsourced. As the staff accountant you will be responsible for moving payroll, accounts payable and other accounting functions in-house as well as managing the accounts receivable process, which is already managed in-house.
Job Duties:
• Preparation of monthly financial reporting package (including financial statements, variance analysis, and supplemental financial reports)
• Prepare adjusting entries as a result of financial statement analysis
• Assist in reviewing all financial data for accuracy and completeness
• Reconcile general ledger on a monthly basis and prepare invoices and journal entries
• Compile annual budgets, proformas, year-end audit workpapers, and semi-annual filings
• Process Accounts Payable and supervise Accounts Receivable transactions
• Record biweekly payroll journal entries and analysis
• Administer proper general ledger coding
• Conduct multiple tasks concurrently, managing workloads to meet deadlines
• Respond to routine management inquiries in a timely manner
• Additional responsibilities as assigned
Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Minimum of 3+ Years accounting experience preferably gained in the food service or hospitality industry
• Must have strong computer skills – skill at using database, spreadsheet, and word processing software to prepare statistical and written reports with varying degrees of complexity and detail for management
• Must be technically proficient in ADP and Quickbooks
• Experience with Visual Z-Bake is highly preferred
• Ability to communicate with all levels of management
• Desire to work in a team environment
• Possess positive and professional attitude
• Must be detailed oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a busy and demanding environment
