Required Skills

We are currently seeking an experienced candidate to fill the position of Recovery Specialist in our Collections department. This candidate must be self motivated and driven and have the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to collecting charged-off loans for all product types using the best recovery methods. This candidate must have the demonstrated ability to prepare and facilitate paperwork needed for legal claims to recover funds, including filing paperwork with court house and making court appearances as needed.


Required Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of recovery, legal and bankruptcy experience.
  • College degree desired
  • Knowledge of collection laws, regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and interpretive skills.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks accurately and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to negotiate, achieve collection and referral goals.
  • Demonstrated expertise using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent Skip Tracing skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including working overtime hours with little advanced notice and weekend hours.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and proven track record managing bankrupt, legal accounts, post charge off/late stage delinquent and other more complex collection items.
  • Additionally, all SDFCU employees are required to remain cognizant of and adhere to credit union policies and procedures and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act and the Information Security Policy.
