A companion is a friend, teacher and facilitator to a PSN client. Assist the client to become as independent as possible and to live safely and healthfully. This may require training the client in assisted daily living and self-care skills. Assist the client with tasks he/she cannot perform independently. These may include attending routine medical appointments, shopping for needed items, housekeeping, personal care and social activities. Look for ways in which the client could improve his or her quality of life and bring recommended changes to the PSN Director. A college degree in a related field, such as education, psychology, counseling, social work and/or 2 to 4 years of experience working with people with disabilities. Mature judgment, good communication skills, flexibility, ability to work independently, and good driving record are required. EOE. M/F/D/V |
