Position Description

The Accounting Manager will play an integral role in guiding the success of the accounting department. Working directly with the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Firm's accounting staff and functions, including A/P, A/R, Billing, and G/L and producing timely, accurate financial statements and other reports as required
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Consistently provide world class client service to attorneys, paralegals, staff, and Firm clients and observe confidentiality in all Firm and client matters
-Supervise, mentor, and train one Accounting Clerk
-Process bi-weekly payroll using ADP
-Process 401(k) deferrals and FSA deductions for bi-weekly payroll
-Reconcile monthly bank statements
-Manage cash flow among several accounts and prepare wire transfer instructions as necessary; obtain signature from a Principal
-Review incoming receipts for IOLTA disposition
-Review general ledger detail and make journal entries as needed
-Produce monthly financial statements
-Track acquisition and disposal of fixed assets
-Track employee leave balances
-Oversee A/P, A/R, and Billing
-Work with COO and/or Firm's CPA on projects as assigned
-Maintain strict confidentiality with client, employee, and financial information
-Troubleshoot and resolve general accounting issues
-Interact well with employees at all levels of the organization
-Comply with all Firm procedures including scanning and paperless records policies, document naming conventions, technology usage policies, and time entry standards
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
-Proficient with office equipment and technology, including MS Office Suite, with particular expertise in MS Excel
-Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (Although may consider candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in another subject and solid accounting experience)
-Three to five years of progressively responsible accounting experience and some experience supervising others, in a law firm or professional services environment
-Excellent judgment in working with clients, other employees, and in representing the Firm
-Logical thought process and problem solving skills
-Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints
-Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and follow instructions from a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact
