Nurse Practitioner position in busy 94,000+ visit Level 1 Trauma Center. Job responsibilities in all areas of Emergency Department: Main, Trauma, West, Peds, Triage. Shift incl days, mids, overnights, weekends & holidays. Shift differentials and productivity incentives. Very equitable and egalitarian scheduling. Ideal candidate will have completed post-grad EM fellowship BUT will consider candidate with 1 yr of EM or
FM/IM with Urgent Care experience. Strong new grads with robust EM rotations and evaluations in school also considered.

This role includes responsibility for identifying the patient's health status through taking of health histories; performing physical examinations; initiating screening and diagnostic procedures; management of minor trauma and acute health problems; health maintenance and clinical management of stable or chronically ill patients.

What We Require:


Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program, including preceptorship required.

Experience: One to three years experience preferred. Additional experience may be required for some specialties.

Licensure/Certification: Current state Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP), DEA license and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced Life Support certification preferred.

Other: Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine. Capable of meeting credentialing or job function requirements as needed based on the requirements of the practice and of managed care payors and insurers. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic's malpractice insurance carrier. Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
