Responsibilities

Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers hope and healing for youth ages 7 to 17 at the time of admission with several psychiatric diagnoses and/or developmental disabilities. Located in Portsmouth, VA, Harbor Point provides intensive, residential treatment to youth in a comfortable setting that is conducive to healing. Our facility specializes in treating children and adolescents with depression, bipolar, ADHD, and other mental health issues. We also have specific treatment programs for those with intellectual disabilities or those with self-injurious behavior. Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE-approved and certified facility.

Position Scope:

The RC Runner will safely and promptly transition residents to and from the Treatment Team Meetings. This position will serve, as needed and pending department availability, as Residential Counselor 1 to 2 times per week. It will support residential monthly milieu reports. It will serves as a role model for residents to observe and learn socially effective values, attitudes and behaviors. Ensures environment remains safe and normative culture remains positive throughout facility. Maintains patient safety, contributes to formulation, implementation and revision of the resident individual treatment plan.

Essential Functions:

  1. Transition residents to/from Treatment Team Meetings.
  2. Conduct and send daily ISP pre-audits.
  3. Act as substitute Treatment Team Coordinator, as needed.
  4. Will be responsible for Treatment Team Clerical Support.
  5. Will perform ISP processing support, audits.
  6. Implements program to help residents learn acceptable behaviors.
  7. Supervises residents' attainment of treatment goals.
  8. Maintains positive normative culture.
  9. Utilizes established mechanisms to enhance communication.
  10. Assist in staffing needs of the facility.
  11. Adheres to all supervision responsibilities related to monitoring.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Minimum High School Diploma or GED/equivalent required and a minimum of six months of experience working with children. Prefer an undergraduate degree in human services, psychology, social work or related field or undergraduate degree in non-human services along with three months of experience working with children or an Associate's degree with three months of experience working with children. Those with a High School diploma or GED/equivalent and no experience working with children may not work alone, but may be employed as long as they are working directly with a direct care staff with one or more years of professional experience working with children until such time experience is met.
