Cloud DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Flex, onsite, remote

Type: Contract-to-hire

Experience in public (AWS, Azure), private (RHOSP, VIO), and mixed cloud environments.

Position Overview:

Acara Solutions is currently seeking a Cloud DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer to join our client's team in Pittsburgh, PA. In this role, you will be responsible for guiding internal customers in configuring and deploying Platform as a Service (PaaS) infrastructure, collaborating with Software Architects to design cloud applications for optimal scaling, and interfacing with both internal and external stakeholders to deploy solutions and provide educational workshops. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud technologies, DevOps practices, and infrastructure engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide internal customers on configuring and deploying PaaS infrastructure, including identity and access management, network architecture, application security, logging, monitoring, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with Software Architects to design cloud applications for optimal scaling, incorporating content caching, compute optimizations, continuous integration and delivery pipelines, and load balancer setup.
  • Interface with internal and external customers to deploy solutions and deliver workshops to educate and empower them.
  • Work closely with Project Management to ensure excellence in solution delivery and drive continuous improvement.
  • Guide engineering teams in evolving cloud technologies.
  • Support the successful implementation of Application PaaS in the cloud through architecture guidance, best practices, data migration, troubleshooting, monitoring, and more.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in cloud technologies, DevOps practices, and infrastructure engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with deployment of continuous integration and continuous deployment technologies such as GitLab, Jenkins, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Proficiency in creating pipelines, Ansible Playbooks, or Terraform configurations to automate administrative actions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders to deploy solutions and provide educational workshops.
  • Ability to guide engineering teams in adopting and evolving cloud technologies.


Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering or Science or Engineering or Mathematics
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in public (AWS, Azure), private (RHOSP, VIO), and mixed cloud environments
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in maintaining production-grade applications in virtualized environments (cloud computing platforms and services) using automation

  • Installation of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) technologies such as Amazon Web Services, OpenStack, RHOSP, or VIO
  • Management of Cloud Resources in Amazon Web Services or Azure
  • Platform as a Service (PaaS) technologies such as Kubernetes, Rancher, or OpenShift
  • Cloud automation tooling such as Ansible, Terraform, Terragrunt, or Packer
  • Open-source server, messaging, load balancing, and database software (such as RabbitMQ, Redis, Elasticsearch)
  • Scalable networking technologies such as Load Balancers (NGINX)/Firewalls and web standards (REST APIs, web security mechanisms)
