Job Description

We are looking for an IT/Cybersecurity Support Specialist with a Secret Clearance that will ensure the safety of IT systems from cyber threats, while also provide technical support and assistance to users, thus bridging the gap between cybersecurity measures and everyday user interactions with technology. You will play a crucial role in protecting information systems and ensuring that users can navigate these systems safely and efficiently.

A week in the life of an IT/Cybersecurity Support Specialist:

  • Serve as the first line of IT support for software, and network issues for our customers, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of problems. Diagnose and Resolve problems or contacts additional technical support, as necessary.
  • Document all IT support activities and user interactions accurately and promptly in the IT Service Management system
  • Assist in the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems.
  • Assist in the administration of user accounts, permissions, and access rights in AD.
  • Instruct users in the use of software applications and onboarding processes. Investigate information, network, and communications needs of users, and makes recommendations for service and process improvement.
  • Help with the documentation of IT procedures, system configurations, and changes.
  • Support regular security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements to the security posture.
  • Utilize ACAS Tenable Security Center (tenable.sc) by updating plugins, setting up scan zones, and producing scan results.
  • Assist the ISSO with IAVM reports, task SMEs and provide guidance on remediation.
  • Assist the ISSO with analyzing, updating, and maintaining existing RMF/ATO package documentation.
  • Assist in the rollout of new security documentation, policies, and procedures relevant to the implementation of security guidance and solutions.
  • Examine and update existing security controls to ensure compliance with NIST 800-53.
  • Perform assigned duties in the program's change management process.
  • Review and analyze Splunk logs and SolarWinds reports for anomalies.
  • Review and analyze ePO reports and logs for vulnerabilities.
  • Interact daily with teammates and management via phone, email, IM, SharePoint, MS Teams, and ticketing system.
Job Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in an IT support role with a demonstrated focus on cybersecurity.
  • DoD Secret security clearance
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Familiarity with IT support ticketing systems and ITSM procedures.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, including WAN/LAN, VPN, and wireless.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux environments, and cloud computing (AWS).
  • Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, etc.)
  • 8570/8140 IAT level II certification (Security +, for example)
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain complex IT concepts in simple terms.
  • A proactive attitude towards tackling cybersecurity challenges.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to continually update skills through professional development.
  • Telecommuter position but must be able to travel to the Washington, D.C. 1-2 times per year.
  • Ability to read and quickly comprehend DoD and DHA cyber security guidelines, directives, and artifacts.
  • Critical thinking - ability to read/hear, analyze, and provide clear and substantive feedback in writing.
  • Experience with RMF and Complete understanding of the Risk Management Framework, FISMA, Federal Information Processioning Standards (FIPS), and NIST Special Publications 800 series
  • Experience with IAVM analysis and POAM management

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with Atlassian products such as Jira Software, Confluence, Service Manager, and Jira plug-ins on the cloud.
  • Experience supporting Military Health organizations, such DHA.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $70,000 - 85,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
