Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Full-time, Rotating Shift, Cook.
  • <1 year of Cook and Food Service experience required.
  • Food Handlers Card is required.

Work Full-time Hours with an Excellent Benefit Package!

(Up to $2,000 Sign-on Bonus for qualified candidates)

A Cook prepares all hot foods for patient trayline, cafe, and functions including (but not limited to) entrees, vegetables, starches, and bakery items. Licensure: Food Handlers (as required by local Health Department).

  • Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh
  • Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients
  • Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods
  • Present, garnish and arrange final dishes
  • Occasionally serve food
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes
  • Handle and store ingredients and food
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment and utensils
  • Execute opening and closing procedures
  • Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment
  • Check the quality and freshness of ingredients
  • Monitor station inventory levels
  • Accommodate guest special requests
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryers

Job Summary

Prepares all hot foods for patient trayline, cafe, and functions including (but not limited to) entrees, vegetables, starches, and bakery items.

PACE specific incumbents for this position require a minimum of one year of experience working with the frail or elderly population. Licensure: Food Handlers (as required by local Health Department). Food Handlers required upon hire for all locations for SLC positions. Experience in Lieu of degree/diploma will be accepted.
