Job Description
ORBIS is looking for a dynamic International Division Deputy to grow, lead, and manage our international division. This role is located in McLean, VA with 35-50% international travel. Looking for someone to do the following:
  • GROW: Drive the firm in proposing and delivering superior technology-enabled programs to international client through direct engagement and intentional support across the international account managers.
  • LEAD: Demonstrate empowered leadership and empower leaders within the Division. Work with leaders to develop of programs and teams aligned with the firm's strategic vision, culture of technical transformation, and multi-partner integration by understanding, empowering, shepherding, and growing the international division and teammates.
  • MANAGE: Manage contract delivery resources, support client engagements, ensure execution of realized programs during performance, and oversee all program budgets and travel.
  • CONNECT: Support broader firm-wide strategy development and implementation, including but not limited to business development efforts, client support, and M&A processes.
  • EVOLVE: Spearhead the recruitment, selection, career management, and professional development of all team members across the International Division. Create organizational and professional growth opportunities aligned with new contract and contract growth opportunities to create a culture of ongoing team, and thereby program, evolution.

Key Responsibilities
GROW
  • Work with the Head of International to drive client acquisition, business development, and program growth across international clients and new opportunities. As required, engage international clients directly and travel to propose new programs and develop relationships. Manage Division resources and support account managers undertaking business development efforts and engagements.
  • Coordinate closely with Account Managers to understand potential customer needs and with Capabilities Managers to understand capability offerings including service offerings, proprietary and third-party tools, and training. Seek opportunities to drive new business and create synergies with capability reuse.
  • Systematically build relationships with international clients where appropriate and understand where account managers are driving relationships in an empowered and effective manner. Seek to limit single points of connectivity for the firm and focus an investment on sustained and upcoming (future leader) relationships.
  • Contribute to International program proposals and concept pitches. Participate in the pricing and review process before proposals are sent to clients to ensure consistency with firm quality standards and alignment with strategy.
  • Manage the International Division pipeline and run Business Development Operating System for International along with the Head of International.

LEAD
  • Demonstrate empowered leadership and empower other leaders within the Division. Work with leaders to develop of programs and teams aligned with the firm's strategic vision, culture of technical transformation, and multi-partner integration.
  • Mentor and grow other leaders across the firm. Directly grow people leaders, technical leaders, and thought leaders by understanding, empowering, shepherding, and growing the international division and teammates.
  • Work with the CCO and Technical Product Manager to drive Orbis' investment in proprietary technology, training, and intellectual property. Shape decisions to invest in partnerships or develop unique solutions based on your analysis of client needs, market trends, and opportunities.

MANAGE
  • Manage contract delivery resources, support client engagements, ensure execution of realized programs during performance, and oversee all program budgets.
  • Support client engagements and the rollout of new capability offerings to clients. When possible, put in place a mechanism to capture feedback that can shape subsequent business development, technical development, and investment towards program growth and new opportunities.
  • Ensure execution of realized programs during performance and oversee all program budgets and travel.
  • Ensure all international business practices adhere to regulatory standards.
CONNECT
  • Understand international trends and changes with the potential to disrupt the firm's key markets and take proactive steps to request investments and capabilities from the Chief Capabilities Officer and Capabilities Managers to mitigate.
  • Expand the network of external relationships that benefit the firm with domestic and international partners in support of business growth and market staying power.
  • Support firm-wide strategy development, implementation, and management. Support business development efforts, client support, and M&A processes across the firm including beyond the International Division when requested.
EVOLVE
  • Actively manage the International Division team taking a proactive approach to promote performance, contributions to the firm, team, and programs.
  • Understand individual aspirations and create organizational and professional growth opportunities aligned with new contract and contract growth opportunities. Create a culture of ongoing team, and thereby program, evolution.
  • Support hiring and staffing of International Division positions with your assessment of abilities, skills, qualification, and fit. Support program and account management leadership but engage potential candidate shortcomings and block hires when they prevent risk to the program or firm.
  • Contribute to strengthening a culture of ongoing investment in our people and capabilities so that we are never complacent.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Experience:
  • Must have 20+ years in intelligence or special forces, 5+ rotations with partners and liaisons, operational leadership experience (Commander or Chief), proven track record of good judgement, management of $100M+ budget.
  • Senior level relationships with international Special Forces, Intelligence, and other partner governments.
Required Skills:

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Ability to go on overseas travel totaling between 35-50% of the year and other domestic travel as required.
