Main position objectives

A screen assembler fabricates a large variety of different screen assemblies for new equipment (projects), for old equipment (spare part) and for inventory screens.

Position description - Tasks, responsibilities, competencies

  • Measure accurately and calculate fractions/decimal conversions.
  • Accurately read blueprints.
  • Use grinding equipment.
  • Resistance spot weld and roll sheet metal and screen components.
  • Tig weld screen components.
  • Paint / mark screens when required.
  • Use hand sand blasting type equipment when needed.
  • Manage the screen material inventory and the screen assemblies' inventory.
  • Communicate with fabrication/welding department as well as the mechanical design department to ensure the screens are manufactured correctly per specification.
  • Use computer to print off job orders, drawings and other paperwork.
  • Maintain high level of attention to detail and focus while assembling screens.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Follow all safety rules and quality standards.
  • Follow all company rules and polices.

Work Environment

Work in this position is both in an office and a factory floor environment, either locally or at a customer site. While performing the duties of this job in a factory setting, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and PPE may be required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must be able to lift items up to 50 pounds
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Specification

Education

Mandatory

  • High School diploma or equivalent education (additional technical skills a plus)
  • Technical training reading Blueprints

Professional experience

Mandatory

  • Min 1 years of experience reading blueprints
  • Computer skills to include searching data bases, printing and emailing

Desirable

  • Experience in TIG & MIG welding is a plus
  • Spot welding

Interpersonal skills and behavioral competencies
