Position Title

Inova Health System's Fair Oaks is looking for an Interventional Radiology Lead Technologist to join our Unit team supporting Interventional Radiology.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs psychological/physiologic assessments that integrate changing data as documented in procedure notes.
  • Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members while displaying leadership behaviors.
  • Demonstrates use of conflict resolution skills through interpersonal relationships with personnel, physicians and all other staff. Takes calls for and works in other Inova Health System cardiac cath and or electrophysiology labs.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and research protocols incorporating research findings into practice. Consistently communicates/collaborates with the healthcare team members, patients and families to maximize patient outcomes.
  • Appropriately delegates patient care activities to other health care team members and participates in making and revising staff assignments.
  • Selects appropriate instruments and supplies based on patient presentation during procedure. Monitors the EKG, hemodynamic pressure and other physiologic data during the procedure.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in one highly skilled cath lab procedure (e.g. balloon pumps).
  • Administers medications, including moderate sedation, as directed by the physician. Calibrates, operates and troubleshoots a wide variety of equipment and instruments.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.



Additional Requirements


Certification - Basic Life Support Upon Start; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Upon Start; Registered in one of the following: RCIS, RTR VI, RTR CV, RTR CI, unless a graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Licensure - Must possess one of the above registries OR must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse Upon Start

Experience - One year at a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist 4 level, greater than 5 years of experience in an interventional Cardiac Cath Lab or Electrophysiology Lab performing Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist duties; or 3 years experience at an Inova Cath lab or EP lab.

Education - Associate's Degree. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and /or Graduate of an accredited, school of Cardiovascular Technology or Radiology Technology or equivalent education and experience.
