VPT, Inc., a global leader in providing power conversion solutions for use in avionics, military, space and industrial applications, is seeking a full-time Material Quality Associate for their office in Blacksburg, Va.

Summary:

As a member of the VPT Quality Team, the Material Quality Associate position is responsible for the incoming inspection of assemblies and production components.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform inspection of assemblies, subassemblies, and production components
    • Visual inspections - with and without microscopes/magnification
    • Mechanical inspections with appropriate hand tools such as calipers and micrometers, etc.
    • Electronic inspection using appropriate hand tools such as multimeters, digital tweezers, etc.
  • Compile component/material kits and documentation for manufacturing builds
  • Distribute documentation and materials to manufacturing and engineering personnel
  • Data entry for quality, component, and production related items
  • Compiling, scanning, and organizing quality, component, and production related data

Competencies:

  • J-STD or IPC standards preferred
  • Mechanical blueprints and geometrical tolerancing preferred
  • Must have a strong attention to details
  • Must have experience using hand tools (e.g., Calipers, Micrometers, etc.)
  • Must be able to communicate proficiently
  • Must be well organized
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks / projects at a time

Because of the nature of the position a US Person is required.

Required Education and Experience:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a quality control, incoming inspection, incoming receiving, inventory control, mechanical or electrical inspection or warehouse

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • J-STD or IPC related certification preferred
  • Blueprint reading/comprehension preferred
  • Geometrical Tolerancing comprehension preferred
  • Experience conducting Incoming Inspection preferred
  • Inventory control/management experience preferred
