Maxar is looking for a Director, Program Management with a strong delivery record and proven project management experience to own strategic, tactical, cross-functional and technology projects and programs across multiple verticals. This role requires scoping and creating project plans, developing processes, coordinating and driving execution, and communicating to senior management on status, risks and process/product changes. The ideal candidate will leverage extensive project management experience, combined with deep analytical capabilities and a keen sense of innovation, to lead complex projects from conception to completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage a set of strategic initiatives to drive the growth and transformation of Maxar's US Government Services business. In this role, you will scope a set of large projects, track project timelines, and develop mechanisms for communicating status, risk, and business challenges.

  • Be adept at cross-team coordination, project management, and data analysis, with a proven history of delivering results.

  • Manages, through directly and indirectly reporting subordinate supervisors and peers, the coordination of the activities of a program with responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.

  • Provide guidance and direction to program team members within the latitude of established company policies.

  • Proactively identify issues or roadblocks, coordinate collaborative cross-functional working groups to develop solutions, and ensure solution implementation through completion.

  • Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect Maxar's success.

  • Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.

  • Follow processes and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Act as advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.

  • Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements and budget responsibilities. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the short-term goals of the organization.

  • Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company. Often must lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • US citizenship with a current/active TS/SCI clearance.

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • 15+ years of related experience. Additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • Program Manager experience with large, multi-million-dollar programs (minimum of 5+ years of experience as a PM on projects with an aggregate annual value over $10M).

  • Demonstrated history of success in managing the cost, schedule, and technical performance requirements of multiple programs through all phases from inception to completion.

  • Demonstrated experience leading programs with cross functional workstreams, e.g., finance, human resources, engineering, sales.

  • Must be willing to travel to customer, subcontractor, and other Maxar locations, as necessary (time-demand variable based on candidate location).

  • Experience working in software development or technical engineering business.

  • Experience working in a business that provides products and services to the US Government.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certified Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent training.

  • Knowledge of modern software tools and technologies including cloud applications.

  • Knowledge of government contracting practices and understanding of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplements, as well as other Agency Supplements.

  • Knowledge of Intellectual Property protection, including copyright law and software licensing.

  • Background in Intelligence or Remote Sensing.

  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management principles; experience applying those principles to projects.

  • Advanced Degree, e.g. Master's Degree in engineering or MBA

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate's unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$165,000.00 - $275,000.00 annually.


Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
