About the Position:

The Undergraduate Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator provides administrative, logistical, and recruitment support to the recruitment and outreach function within the Costello College of Business Undergraduate Programs team. The position professionally represents the Costello College of Business during all admission and recruitment events, both on- and off-campus; in the support and growth of the Business Learning Community; events where campus partners, alumni, and dignitaries are present; and during meetings and events with other campus constituents. This position aids in the support of new, current, and returning students through the full spectrum of their George Mason experience in a fast-paced environment subject to multiple demands and changing conditions to support the Costello College of Business.

Responsibilities:

Administrative Recruitment Support and Outreach:

  • Assistance with day-to-day operations of Undergraduate Recruitment and Engagement to include outreach via phone, email, and mass communication systems; constituent engagement and management; and other administrative tasks;
  • Expands and maintains freshmen student population pipelines;
  • Remains abreast of industry trends with regard to freshmen student recruitment and opportunities, including, but not limited to, DECA, FBLA, and NACAC;
  • Expands and maintains transfer student population pipelines from NOVA and other VCCS campuses;
  • Continually researches new pathways for students to transfer to the Costello College of Business;
  • Furthers and expands ADVANCE specific recruitment events and initiatives;
  • Serves as liaison between ADVANCE and College of Business Recruitment and Academic Advising teams;
  • Increases admissions events both on- and off-campus;
  • Establishes semi-regular campus presence at regional community colleges; and
  • Coordinates and conducts prospective student appointments and group information sessions. Pre-advises transfer student populations, in coordination with Academic Advisors and College of Business policies.

Support Student Leadership Council:

  • Support Student Leadership Council including all staffing needs of the function;
  • Provides guidance and mentorship for SLC members throughout their tenure;
  • Furnishes meetings, agendas, and trainings for members to remain well informed; and
  • Secures volunteers for each prospective student admissions event.

Collaboration with College of Business Student Services:

  • Continuous collaboration with student services within the unit to assure proper policies, scope of services, and events are communicated to all prospective students and guests, as well as our students residing in the LC;
  • Serves as a liaison between Admissions Counselors and College of Business Academic Advisors;
  • In coordination with Academic Advisors, hosts transfer workshops for transfer and ADVANCE student populations; and
  • Provides support to LC residents during times of distress and success; also provides assistance to the community during times of conflict, tension, and achievement.

Event Planning and Coordination:

  • Coordinates recruitment activities including fairs, open houses, and on-site visits;
  • Develops and implements Shadow Day opportunities for high school students and community partners;
  • Logistical oversight of new and existing summer programs for community partners;
  • Collaborates with stakeholders for central and college-specific recruitment activities targeted at first-time freshmen; and
  • Assists the Office of Student Success and Academic Services to offer event planning assistance and operation support for large scale events.

Liaison to College and University Constituents:

  • Represents Undergraduate Recruitment and Engagement to University and College partners to include Marketing and Communications, Enrollment Management and Marketing, College of Business Minor Programs, University Admissions, Housing and Residence Life, Alumni Relations, College of Business Development, and academic partners;
  • Serves as liaison between MarCom and Recruitment teams while assisting with marketing and communication projects as assigned;
  • Aids in implementation and growth of Minor Programs through marketing, event, and logistical support; and
  • Continuously collaborates with campus partners to provide experiential learning programs and opportunities to College of Business students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Knowledge of recruitment and admission trends within higher education, community colleges, adult student outreach, and certificate programs;
  • Excellent customer service skills as this function frequently interacts with guests, students, and community partners in-person and virtually;
  • Ability to work independently and to complete multiple tasks within tight deadlines;
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Must have the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality in a highly visible office;
  • Excellent computer skills with working knowledge of all applications in Microsoft Office, electronic calendaring, e-mail, University applications such as Microstrategy, Banner, and Salesforce, College applications and files, and Admissions/University databases and reporting formats;
  • Ability to provide timely and relevant input concerning external relations activities, meetings, and events, as well as to act for the good of the Undergraduate Recruitment and Outreach team and the College in a wide variety of situations;
  • Ability to learn and adapt in new, fast-paced environments;
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and in support of all levels of college/institutional leadership;
  • Familiarity with student affairs and admissions processes;
  • Experience in admissions and recruitment;
  • Experience in a higher education environment, preferably within admissions, recruiting, or enrollment management; and
  • Must currently possess a valid motor vehicle's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
