The Advanced Practice Provider Lead job provides clinical leadership and mentoring to Advanced Practice Providers (APP) on a designated health care team in one or more clinical or patient care areas as assigned.

The Advanced Practice Provider Lead job leads are distinguished from APNs/PAs in that, in addition to their clinical leadership and mentoring role, they are assigned administrative tasks and responsibilities by their manager.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Current Virginia licensure from the appropriate Board as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Nurse Midwife, or Nurse Anesthetist
Successful completion of national certification exam

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:

Current Virginia licensure from the appropriate Board as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Nurse Midwife or Nurse Anesthetist

Current national certification as appropriate for role Credentialing in accordance with medical staff by-laws for specific job title

Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications where needed

Experience REQUIRED:

Previous mentoring and/or clinical leadership experience

Experience PREFERRED:

Previous mentoring and/or clinical leadership experience Academic Health Care experience Four (4) or more years of experience in the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) role Two (2) years within the specialty practice area

Education/training REQUIRED:

Master's Degree from an accredited program

**If the APP Lead is a Nurse, the Master's Degree must be in Nursing from an accredited nursing program

Education/training PREFERRED: N/A

Independent action(s) required:

Clinical decision-making in collaboration with physicians and daily prioritization of activities.

Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):

Will supervise and/or coordinate the activities of other advanced practice team members as it relates to patient care.

Additional position requirements:

Based on area of assignment, may be required to work evenings, nights, weekends and holidays and/or required to take call. Work schedules are subject to change based on patient and service needs.

As appropriate based on unit assignment.

Physical: Lifting 20-50 lbs.

Other: Exposure to potentially hazardous and infectious substances

Activities: Prolonged standing, Frequent bending, Walking (distance), Climbing (steps, ladder, other), Reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive)

Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinking

Emotional: Fast pace environment, Able to handle multiple priorities, Frequent and intense customer interactions, Noisy environment, Able to adapt to frequent change
