Job Description
The Production Manager is expected to continuously improve and sustain our West Plant production organization. This includes supporting and expanding capacity in the West Plant which produces (1) wire subcomponents for our Made to Order business, (2) Armoring for our Made to Order Business, and (3) finished goods wire.

Essential Job Functions
  • Actively participate in safety programs and implement solutions to resolve or prevent safety issues.
  • Plan and coordinate manufacturing production for the West plant operations and ensure production line schedules are in accordance with facility capabilities and customer demand.
  • Implement strategic improvements for production, quality, and labor utilization throughout the West Plant to drive operational excellence.
  • Ensure effective utilization of West Plant personnel and equipment by providing daily direction for (on-shift) QA techs., material handlers, process engineering, maintenance, and training with alignment to daily production needs.
  • Oversee the production needs for the Plant by coordinating manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with company objectives, quality systems and customer expectations (OTD, COPQ, Materials Management, Machine Uptime, etc.)
  • Encourage and support employee engagement through communication, training, and team building.
  • Daily collaboration with all functional departments in the implementation of operational improvements across safety, quality, productivity, and training.
  • Support continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing and Visual Management initiatives.
  • Implement innovative manufacturing processes to reduce costs and improve product quality.
  • Create documentation protocols and ensure that all records of operations are properly maintained and reviewed.
  • Manage cost of manufacturing by keeping operational expenses within budget and investigate cost-reduction measures.
Requirements
  • Please note: This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR), as such, applicants must be a U.S. person defined as a citizen, national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.
  • Minimum 5 years of previous plant management experience required. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Operational or Scientific field preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
  • Must have proven skills in leadership, people management and process oversight.
  • Must be a highly organized self-starter.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic global environment with multiple changing priorities.
  • Must be able to work in a hands-on environment, interacting closely with manufacturing operators and supervision as well as the maintenance team.
  • Be proficient in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills and a strong ability to build rapport with stakeholders.
  • Must wear and use protective safety equipment as required.
  • Be dependable and have strong work ethics.
  • Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment background investigation.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a post-offer drug screen.
