Summary of Position

The Intern will be working in the Antibody Engineering Department of MacroGenics, implementing techniques in protein production and purification to produce membrane proteins encapsulated in nanodiscs, synthetic model membrane systems, for use in antibody discovery and in vitro assays. The intern will be responsible for establishing protocols for nanodisc generation as well as producing nanodiscs containing protein targets of interest.

Responsibilities and Job Duties

  • Develop experimental plans/protocols with guidance, execute experiments and provide scientific interpretation of results
  • Generate plasmids for the expression of membrane proteins
  • Express membrane proteins in CHO cells and formulate into nanodiscs
  • Characterize nanodiscs by ELISA, gel electrophoresis, and size exclusion chromatography

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Certifications & Experience

  • Undergraduate rising senior and graduate students in accredited universities
  • Must be pursuing a degree in Biology, Molecular & Cell Biology, or Biochemistry
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
