Summary of Position

This is a hands-on internship for a college student in the Process Analytics, Analytical Sciences development lab. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with various chromatography and biophysical methods using state-of-the-art technology. The intern will assist in developing UPLC-based chromatographic methods and biophysical characterization of protein products. He/she will work in a team structure and interface with groups inside Analytical Sciences Department.

Responsibilities and Job Duties

  • Participate in experimental design.
  • Prepare mobile phases according to the experimental design and perform physico-chemical and chromatography methods to evaluate product quality.
  • Make careful and detailed experimental observations and record results.
  • Summarize the results of the analyses and present to the group.
  • Contribute to a database regarding molecular properties and stability profile of different evaluated molecules.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Certifications & Experience

  • Graduate or Undergraduate college student with GPA no less than 3.0, who is currently seeking a degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of protein biochemistry and biochemical laboratory working experience are necessary
  • Must demonstrate motivation and independent work habits
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to apply education and experience to position responsibilities
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with basic lab equipment, such as balance, pH-meter, and spectrophotometer. Hands-on HPLC experience is preferable.
