Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents, located in New Kent, Virginia, provides comprehensive medical, behavioral, rehabilitative, and educational services for children and adolescents ages 2 through 22 who are challenged by co-occurring medical and behavioral diagnoses. Cumberland Hospital is one of the few specialty children's hospitals providing dual treatment protocols for both medical and mental health issues. Cumberland includes a 62 bed Hospital Program, a 16 bed Inpatient Acute Program, and 30 bed Residential Treatment Program. Our goal is to stabilize medical problems and help children develop positive behavioral coping strategies using an interdisciplinary approach.

We are seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to provide behavior support services to patients attending our on-campus school by addressing behaviors which interfere with school and unit performance. The primary function of the BCBA is to plan, develop, and monitor a variety of behavioral support service delivery options to meet the needs of clients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and/or other behavioral and social/communication challenges. The BCBA also consults with and teaches instructional team members regarding pro-active, educational, programming, and behavioral supports; develops and implements comprehensive treatment plans; and collaborates with team members, related service providers, families and other agencies as appropriate..

The BCBA will work Monday thru Friday and will report to the Director of Clinical Services.


Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in Special Education, Psychology, or related field with specialist knowledge of behavioral health and treatment philosophies and professional practices.

Licensure: BCBA certification and associated licensure in the State of Virginia preferred

Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Experience working with children and adolescents who experience behavior dysfunction secondary to brain injury, autism, and other developmental disabilities, chronic medical disorders and other severe and chronic impairments, and their caregivers
  • Reflect behavior, attitude, and appearance appropriate to the position and be supportive of the facility and division philosophy, goals, and objectives
  • Successfully complete and pass all components of Crisis Prevention Institute & Verbal De-escalation Crisis Intervention Training
  • Effectively perform facility approved First Aid and CPR techniques

Salary pay is bi-weekly and commensurate with education and experience.
