Job Description

Develops and implements Corps' recruitment programs and policies in accordance with guidelines established by the President of the University, the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Commandant of Cadets, and the Assistant Commandant for Recruiting. Responsible to the Assistant Commandant for Recruiting for implementing a comprehensive Corps' recruiting plan for outreach to families and external student recruiting. Designs and implements effective recruiting initiatives to attract diverse, highly talented, and productive student cadets to Virginia Tech. Internally, works closely with personnel from the ROTC Departments, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and members of the cadet regiment. Also serves on internal committees, as required. Externally, works closely with Virginia Tech Corps
of Cadets Alumni, Inc. (VTCCA) and event planning vendors. This is primarily an in-person position.

Required Qualifications

Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. The chosen candidate will have college fair and/or recruiting experience with a federal service academy, senior military college, college ROTC program, or comparable professional experience in higher education. The chosen candidate will also have strong communication skills, effective presentation skills, and a collaborative work style. The ability to interact effectively with diverse populations and to provide leadership to alumni volunteers, current high school and college students through counseling, coaching, and mentoring will be required.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications: Master's degree in Business Management, Marketing, Communications, Higher Education, or Public Affairs and/or related field. Experience with SLATE in an Admissions or Enrollment Management role. ROTC or military experience is preferred. Experience managing volunteers and families within a higher education setting is also preferred.
